For the calendar year, Short-term Rental (STR) License fees are $125 for new applications or $50 for renewals, paid annually. There is no pro-rated pricing or discount for mid-year licensing.

(The applicant for Short-term rental licensure must own the home or be the beneficiary of a trust that owns the home. and that home must be the owner/beneficiary’s primary residence. See section 6-7-50 (a) (1) of the Lyons Municipal Code.)
The primary and/or emergency contact will be contacted in the event of a disturbance or emergency at the short-term rental. Representatives must reside or are physically located within sixty (60) miles of the short-term rental property, and are available by phone twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week. The primary representative may be the Homeowner, if they are located within sixty (60) miles during rental periods. See section 6-7-50 (a) (5) of the Lyons Municipal Code
Short-term Rentals must collect and remit their own sales tax, or have a third party, collect and remit their sales tax for the property.
Effective January 1, 2023, pursuant to the Town of Lyons Municipal Code Sec. 4-10-30, there is an occupation tax on every person/business that furnishes any hotel or motel room, lodging room, bedroom, guest house room, bed & breakfast room, campsite or other similar accommodations within the Town of Lyons for less than thirty (30) consecutive days, in the amount of 5% per night per occupied lodging room, accommodation, or campsite.
All hosts of short-term lodging accommodations (including Airbnb, VRBO, etc.) must submit the Lodging Occupation Tax Report form, along with full payment, on or before the 20th of each month. Returns are required monthly, even if you are reporting a $0 amount.
AirBnB signed an agreement with the Colorado Department of Revenue to remit local and State sales tax directly to the State. In the Town of Lyons, short-term rental owners, must submit the 5% lodging tax directly to the Town of Lyons monthly.

The application fee may be reimbursable for approved Accessible STRs. To submit the Accessibility Self-Inspection Form, link to the form below and complete with your application. The Accessibility Self-Inspection form will be reviewed; upon approval, you will be notified of the approval and details of the application fee reimbursement, if applicable.

In order to be eligible for an Accessible-Certified Short-Term Rental, your unit must fulfill ALL the accessible features in the checklist below.
Once submitted, staff will determine whether the unit is approved as accessible. Upon approval, a refund for the application fee will be issued.
