Applications will be reviewed for compliance, in accordance with the Lyons Municipal Code, and a decision on the application’s approval will be made within 45 days. Short-term Rental Licenses are valid for a calendar year (January through December).
Short-term Rental (STR) License fees are $100 annually. There is not pro-rated pricing or discounts for mid-year licensing. In addition to the license fee, application fees are $75 for new applicants, or $50 for renewals. (The $50 or $70 application fee may be refunded for a certified Accessible STR application. The Accessibility Self-Certification form - found below - must be completed and approved to receive the fee reimbursement.)Make Checks Payable to: Town of Lyons. The $75 or $50 application fee may be reimbursable for approved Accessible STRs. To submit the Accessibility Self-Inspection Form, link to the form (link below), and complete with your application. The Accessibility Self-Inspection form will be reviewed; upon approval, you will be notified of the approval and details of the application fee reimbursement, if applicable. Check this box if you are submitting the Accessibility Self-Certification form, and therefore requesting an Application Fee waiver.
In order to be eligible for an Accessible-Certified Short-Term Rental, your unit must fulfill ALL the accessible features in the checklist below. Once submitted, staff will determine whether the unit is approved as accessible. Upon approval, a refund for the application fee will be issued.

(The applicant for Short-term rental licensure must own the home or be the beneficiary of a trust that owns the home. and that home must be the owner/beneficiary’s primary residence. See section 6-7-50 (a) (1) of the Lyons Municipal Code.)
The primary and/or secondary representative will be contacted in the event of a disturbance or emergency at the short-term rental. Representatives must reside or are physically located within sixty (60) miles of the short-term rental property, and are available by phone twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week. The primary representative may be the Homeowner, if they are located within sixty (60) miles during rental periods. See section 6-7-50 (a) (5) of the Lyons Municipal Code
Short-term Rentals must collect and remit their own sales tax, or have a third party, such as AirBnB, collect and remit their sales tax. Any bookings made through a third party that collects and remits sales tax, such as AirBnB, should not be included in your lodging sales for the month, as they are represented in AirBnB's remittance. Other books must be reported. You are responsible for collecting and remitting monthly lodging sales and lodgers tax correctly calculated and remitted to the proper entity. (Section 6-7-50(a)6 of Lyons Municipal Code)
AirBnB signed an agreement with the Colorado Department of Revenue to remit local and State sales tax directly to the State on behalf of the lodgers. The bookings made through AirBnB should not be included in your lodging sales for the month as they are represented in AirBnB's remittance. All other bookings made through any other company or homeowner should be included in the monthly lodging sales with sales tax and lodgers tax correctly calculated and remitted to the proper entity.

*Sleeping room means any room that has a bed, bunk beds, daybed, or other furniture for sleeping, including, without limitation, a roll-out couch or futon. To qualify as a sleeping room, the sleeping room shall comply with all pertinent building code regulations, including, without limitation, requirements regarding exit or egress, ceiling height, and windows.

Please attach a Parking Plan Diagram, which shows the short-term rental property, adjacent properties, and the Short-term Rental parking plan. No more than two (2) vehicles may be parked overnight on a public street outside of a licensed short-term rental property. Parking of short-term rental occupant vehicles in alleys or in such a manner as to block emergency access is prohibited. (You may use an aerial map with parking locations clearly marked).

When used as a Short-term Rental I agree to post 24-Hour contact Information in the Short-term Rental that provides guests a number they can call at anytime if they have concerns about their stay or in regards to neighbors. I will also post the parking plan for the Short-term Rental and a safety plan that shows emergency exit routes.
I acknowledge that I have read and understand the Good Neighbor Guidelines and pledge to adhere to this code and ensure that my guests adhere to this code. This certification is used to support a claim that you are the owner of the dwelling unit or the beneficiary of a trust owning such unit, and the dwelling unit is your principle residence. You must be an owner of the property for which you are applying, or the beneficiary of a trust owning such unit, to be eligible for a Town of Lyons Short-Term Rental License (LMC Sec. 6-7-40). This certification will be accepted as one form of evidence for your ownership.

This certification is used to support a claim that the dwelling unit is your principle residence. “Principle residence” is defined in the LMC as the owner of the dwelling unit that resides in such dwelling unit for a minimum of nine (9) months per calendar year, unless a lower minimum is approved by the Town Administrator.
