Winter Wonderland Concert

Joe Kuckla and Irons in the Fire

The Town of Lyons will be hosting Joe Kuckla and Irons in the Fire, with live music in LaVern Johnson Park on Saturday, January 22, from 2 - 4 pm.

Thanks for the generous support from the Lyons Community Foundation for the winter concert series. The event is outside and we encourage folks to wear a mask.  Sadly, it has been too warm for ice skating. We look forward to January 22nd!

Have you ever thought about running for office, or know someone who is interested? Are you curious about how town-wide decisions are made? Are you passionate about making a difference? Do you want to serve and make an impact in Lyons?

The Town of Lyons will hold the next regular Municipal Election on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 to elect six trustee seats and a Mayor to serve on the Board of Trustees. Each term is for two years.

Registered electors 18 years of age or older may be a candidate and hold office if they have resided inside Town limits for at least 12 consecutive months immediately preceding April 5, 2022. Candidate packets are available at the Town Clerk’s office at Town Hall  and nomination petitions must be circulated. The petition must be signed by at least 10 registered electors who reside inside Town limits. The filing deadline for nomination petitions is Jan. 24, 2022 at 4:30 p.m.

For individuals who are interested in learning more about becoming a candidate, the  Lyons Regional Library and the Lyons Area Chamber of Commerce held a candidate information forum late last year. The forum included expectations of time commitment and the role of a Board member. Learn more.

Ice Skating Lessons

Recreation Programs

No ice rink this year

Sadly Mother Nature has not cooperated with us this year. Due to continued periods of too warm weather the town will not be setting up the ice rink this winter. Our rink requires a minimum of a week of below freezing temperatures to set the ice properly and we haven’t had that or see it in the short term and forecast.
Although we won’t be skating, we do still plan to have the Winter Wonderland Concerts complete with hot chocolate and live music.
All ice skate lessons are cancelled and a refund will be issued to those via the Rec Desk program and site.

Girls Spring Recreational Softball for 1st through 12th grades is now open for registration.  Get all the details and a link to sign up here:  https://www.townoflyons.com/624/Register-for-Recreation-Programs
