Bohn Park Stormwater Improvements

Bohn Park Stormwater Improvements

Closure began this week!

This project entails enlarging the storm detention ponds in Bohn Park and installing new larger storm drain between the ponds as well as their connection to the storm drain system on 2nd Avenue.  The current schedule begins this week and is scheduled to be complete by the end of October.

This week crews will begin prepping the area for closures the next week. This includes the construction of a temporary access driveway into the Wastewater Treatment Plant parking lot.

Beginning on August 30th, 2nd Avenue will be fully closed between the Wastewater Treatment Plant driveway to approximately 100’ south on the Bohn Park Entrance. The waterline relocation and storm drain installation under 2nd Ave will continue for several weeks. Residents in Lyons Valley Park will need to go around the closure (via US-36) and enter over the new 2nd Ave Bridge in order to access the recycling center.

This is a storm water project to continue to build Lyons' resiliency.

Please include an estimate of how much material you have. On the morning of the pickup, please put the material in plain view, or let the volunteers otherwise know where the materials will be for quick access.

Lyons Volunteers is now a program of Lyons Emergency Assistance Fund (LEAF). While there is no charge for this volunteer project, donations to LEAF are appreciated and may be sent to LEAF, PO Box 324, Lyons, CO 80540-0324.

So far in 2021, this Zero Waste volunteer effort has recycled over 2 tons of scrap metal and 18 cubic yards of block styrofoam for Lyons residents.
