The Town of Lyons and the Lyons Arts and Humanities Commission (LAHC) invite artists to submit high-quality, original art and sculpture for its newly expanded heARTS of LYONS Outdoor Arts Collection--all over town.

The heARTS of LYONS Outdoor Arts Collection is a perennial celebration of art and sculpture displayed outdoors throughout the quaint mountain town of Lyons, Colorado. Small but mighty Lyons (population 2,000) is an arts-rooted destination, noted for its music, artists, and beautiful setting in the Rocky Mountains’ foothills. Each year, the rare, franchise-free charm of Lyons lures thousands of visitors from all over the world to stop and linger on their way to and from Rocky Mountain National Park.

The heARTS of Lyons rotating collection offers a compelling parade of art that escorts travelers through the Town and entices return visits.

The Town of Lyons and the LAHC invite artists to submit high-quality original art and sculpture for the heARTS of LYONS Outdoor Arts Collection. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. Selected art will be on display for a period of two years.

Legacy Donation

Artists may permanently donate art to the Town of Lyons, as part of the heARTS of LYONS' Legacy Designation program. All Legacy pieces will receive a special Legacy Designation plaque in the place of honorarium payments.

Application Fees and Process

Artists and/or lenders may submit up to three art pieces for consideration per application, for a $30 fee. Applications will not be considered complete nor reviewed by the LAHC until the $30 application fee has been paid. Legacy donation submissions do not require an application fee.

Application fees support heARTS of LYONS efforts, such as artist plaques, pedestals and stone bases, and honoraria.

Upon receipt of the application fee, your application will be reviewed by the commission and a member of the LAHC will be in contact. Upon approval, LAHC will work with artists and/or lenders directly, regarding the Public Display of Outdoor Art Agreement, installation, payment, upkeep, removal, and other aspects.

The programs of the heARTS of LYONS Outdoor Arts Collection are supported, in part, by the Lyons Community Foundation and the Town of Lyons.

Town Hall Quarterly Art Shows

Each quarter, the LAHC coordinates salon-style art shows in the Shirley F. Johnson Council Chambers in Lyons Town Hall, to exhibit artwork by local artists. Exhibitions and show themes are updated quarterly; the exhibits are open to public viewing during Town Hall hours of operation, when the room is available*.

The exhibitions are open to art of all mediums, and artists of all ages, abilities, and artistic interpretation; any artwork (that can be reasonably accommodated in the space) in the theme of the exhibition is welcomed. Reservations are not required. Artists keep 100% of sales.

For up to date information on LAHC’s Town Hall Art Shows, check out the events pages at lyonscolorado.com, our Facebook page, or look for posters around town.

*To ensure the room is unoccupied and open for public viewing, please call the front desk, at 303-823-6622, ext. 10.

Support

The LAHC is grateful to be supported, in part, by the Lyons Community Foundation, the Town of Lyons, contributing artists, and generous donors.
