Board of Trustees Approve Purchase of Longmont's Water Treatment Plant

At the April 17, 2017 Board of Trustees meeting, the Board approved Resolution 2017-47, authorizing the purchase of Longmont's decommissioned water treatment plant, located at 4651 and 4652 Ute Highway.

The contract (approved by the BOT on March 20, 2017) authorizes the Town to expend funds from its Water/Sanitation Enterprise Fund, to locate the public works building on the northeast portion on the north side. This parcel’s purchase would be reimbursed by FEMA for the relocation of the public works facility. The agreed upon purchase price is $925,000 with an initial payment of $10,000 in earnest money and $305,000 paid at closing (April 25, 2017) and another by February 15, 2018 and February 15, 2019. 

Following the April 25, 2017 closing, the Town will move forward with planning the relocation of the public works facility.

Spring Clean Weekend!

Saturday, May 6 & Sunday, May 7

Each spring, the Town of Lyons, led by the Sustainable Futures Commission, provides residents the opportunity to meet all their spring cleaning needs, without leaving town.

Community-Wide Garage Sale 

Saturday, May 6 | 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Spring Clean Weekend is a two day event with the Lyons’ Community Garage Sale kicking things off on Saturday, May 6, from 9 a.m - 1 p.m.  The main hub of the third annual Community Garage Sale will take place at Sandstone Park where multiple residents will be hosting sales. Maps will be created pinning locations of all the other sales happening across town. Make sure to take advantage of this community reuse opportunity before your next trip to Target (better stuff in Lyons and cheaper prices).  If you are interested in hosting a sale, either at Sandstone (please register for a space) or at your home, please contact Sustainability Coordinator, Toby Russell at ( | 303-823-6622 ext. 46.

Cleanup Day

Sunday, May 7 | 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Wastewater Treatment Plant

The following day, Sunday, May 7, the annual Town Clean Up Day will take place in from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Wastewater Treatment Plant on 2nd Ave.  Bring items for reuse, chipping, composting, and disposal. The goal of this event is reduce landfill items by providing responsible disposal of items that otherwise are not normally accepted locally. Some items will incur a cost others we will accept for free. See for the most updated list of acceptable items and the pricelist--be sure to check the list of items at the bottom of the page that will not be accepted.

Lyons Outdoor Games Zero Waste Volunteers Needed

The Lyons Outdoor Games is a volunteer-driven event, with deep tradition in community involvement. This event couldn't happen without the amazing volunteer support!
There are plenty of volunteer slots to fill, with each shift averaging around 3 hours per shift. Don't be afraid to sign up for more than one shift for the event if you can manage! Volunteers will get to attend the event for free, and receive a Lyons Outdoor Games t-shirt, among other perks.

Every hour volunteered helps support local non-profit Lyons Volunteers, as they'll receive a donation!

LCF 10-Year Anniversary

Lyons Community Foundation: Making a difference in Lyons for 10 Years!

Did you know that the 9Health Fair has been an annual LCF grant recipient since 2009?  In that time, almost $11,500 has gone to assist in providing no/low-cost life-saving health screenings to an estimated 4000 area residents. Over 5000 local volunteer hours have been contributed to making this community event a reality. Look for the 9 Health Fair to return this fall.  Continuation of these programs depend on YOU the people of Lyons.  Donate or get involved today:
