Structure Fire on the 200 Block of Evans Street

On December 28, 2016 at 4:05 a.m., the Boulder County Communications Center received a call of a structure fire in the 200 block of Evans St. in Lyons, Colorado. Members of the Lyons, Pinewood Springs and Hygiene Fire Departments responded along with Deputies from the Boulder County Sheriff's Office.
Upon arrival, Deputies observed that the attached garage area of the house was fully engulfed in flames. All three occupants of the house were outside and there were no injuries reported. Two cats escaped the fire, however, two pet birds perished. Deputies performed CPR on the family's dog, Trixie, and were able to save her. The fire was mostly contained to the garage, however, there was some significant damage done to the roof and main structure of the house. At this time the dwelling is not habitable.
Victim advocates from the Boulder County Sheriff's Office along with the Red Cross are currently working with the three occupants that have been displaced to find shelter.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation from members of the Multi Agency Fire Investigation Team (MAFIT).
