Board of Trustees' Affordable Housing Survey

Town of Lyons Survey to Provide Guidance on Affordable Housing

The Board of Trustees have created a survey to collect information regarding priorities and values toward affordable housing, to help guide decision-making. See statement from the Board of Trustees:

The Town of Lyons is committed to diversifying its housing stock and restoring the affordable housing lost in the 2013 flood. Affordable housing has been identified as a priority in the 2010 Comprehensive Plan and also in the Lyons Recovery Action Plan. “Affordable housing” refers to housing options that people earning less than 80% of the area median income for Boulder County can afford.

This survey is intended to inform the Board of Trustees regarding citizens’ priorities and values toward affordable housing, and about whether to pursue annexation of Town-owned property in the Eastern Corridor. (The Eastern Corridor stretches from McConnell Avenue, east to Highland Drive (located on Highway 66 past the defunct water treatment plant sites), and includes the 85-acre Loukonen property to the southeast, abutting Highway 36.)

All responses to this survey are anonymous and will be reported in summary format. The survey should take about 5 minutes of your time.

Thank you,
The Lyons Board of Trustees

Block to Blanket Project

Stop by the Block to Blanket project area from 1-4 PM on Saturday, June 25, at Sandstone Park. Block to Blanket is an intergenerational community craft event sponsored by the Lyons Historical Society Heritage Faire during Lyons’ Good Old Days.
For Block to Blanket, community members of all ages will turn upcycled 100% wool sweaters into a warm and colorful blanket to be raffled at a future event as a benefit for the Lyons Redstone Museum. A contemporary cross between old-time quilting bees and Sheep to Shawl competitions, Block to Blanket is an afternoon community event in which donated sweaters (previously washed and felted by volunteers) are cut into squares and sewn into a blanket. Based on the idea that many hands make light work, tasks will be available for children of all ages, from sorting and cutting to designing and sewing. Come help make something functional and beautiful from mundane materials!
To volunteer time or a portable sewing machine for the event, contact organizers Priscilla Cohan, 720-245-3945, or Kayann Short, 303-823-0975.
