Goodwill Grant Opportunity
The Town of Lyons is pleased to announce the 2022 Goodwill Grant Fund cycle, to support human services in Lyons and the surrounding area. Applications for grants from the Goodwill Fund have been extended through February 28, 2022.
The purpose of the Goodwill Grant Fund is to assist nonprofit organizations that help low-income individuals and families in the Lyons area meet their basic needs. Examples of human service programs might include Meals on Wheels, health-related services, at-risk youth support, senior services, childcare assistance, nutritional support, transportation, and programs that assist with other necessary expenses to help households maintain housing, medical care, and utilities. Grants are available to Lyons area nonprofits that work to benefit a local group or groups of people. Grant amounts range from $500 to a maximum of $5,000. >>Learn more to apply.

Planet Bluegrass Public HearingRescheduled for Wednesday, February 23, 2022 Conditional Use Application
The Board of Trustees will be hosting the second public hearing regarding the Planet Bluegrass Conditional Use application that was submitted to the Town. This public hearing was originally scheduled for Wednesday, February 9, 2022. However, at the first reading on February 1st, the Board of Trustees rescheduled a public hearing for the second reading to Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at 7:00 pm.
Notice is hereby given that on Wednesday, February 23rd, 2022 at 7:00 pm, via a virtual meeting, a public hearing before the Board of Trustees will occur. The public hearing is to consider a Conditional Use Application at 19680 North St. Vrain Drive (Planet Bluegrass Farm) and a public hearing on second reading of ordinance 1118 amending the annexation agreement with Planet Bluegrass. Capital Improvements and Projects
- The Safe Route to School 4th Ave Pedestrian Bridge and Trail has begun mobilization and construction. The area near the St Vrain and Park St, Evans and 4th Ave will have the most work in the coming months as the work progresses in the river to install the bridge abutments. The bridge has already been fabricated in Wisconsin and will transported to Lyons to be installed in the next few months. The project is funded with $1M in Federal/State Funds to date.
- Black Bear Hole and 2nd Ave Trailhead Improvements are also mobilizing to begin work to improve access and parking and a public restroom facility. This project is funded with $282K from lottery dollars through Great Outdoors Colorado.
- Boulder County and their contractor will be blasting at the Lyons Quarry at Hall 2 Open Space under a mining and reclamation permit issued by the State of Colorado’s Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (DRMS). The county has a web page with details and information. >>Learn more

No April Election
Cancelled and New Board to be Seated
Six candidates submitted nomination petitions by the Jan. 24th deadline to run Board of Trustees. In addition, only one candidate submitted a petition to run for Mayor. The seats are all uncontested, after no write-in candidates emerged by the deadline of 4:30 p.m. Monday, January 31st
Pursuant to C.R.S. § 31-10-507, the Town Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to cancel the Town of Lyons Regular Municipal election scheduled for April 5, 2022, by the Town of Lyons Board of Trustees via Resolution 2022-14. There being an equal number of candidates and vacancies for Trustees and Mayor and there being no ballot issues to be decided at said election.
The following candidates are declared elected to the Board of Trustees and shall each serve a two-year term. The newly elected officials will be sworn in at the April 18, 2022, regular Board of Trustees meeting.

Scrap Metal and Block StyrofoamPick up | Wed FEB 23
Lyons Volunteers is planning a scrap metal and Styrofoam pick-up on Wednesday, February 23. They ask that people put material in plain view and give us an idea about how much they will be putting out. The pick-up will be between 9:00 am and noon.
Please submit a request for pick up via the web site, by 7:00 PM on Tuesday, Feb. 22. Lyons Volunteers is now a program of Lyons Emergency Assistance Fund (LEAF). If you wish to make a donation, please direct it to LEAF.
What we pick up: Scrap metal: Items that are more than 50% metal. Please let us approximately how much there is by weight/size. Styrofoam: White block Styrofoam only. (the kind that does not bend or compress easily). No tape.

2022 Eco PassProgram Returns for 2022 Staff have been working with Boulder County and RTD regarding bus service from Lyons to Boulder and the continuation of the Lyons EcoPass program.
The EcoPass program will continue for 2022 and residents who wish to renew or apply for a new eco pass should do so online. The EcoPass is valid on all RTD routes, including buses from Boulder to DIA and/or Denver.
In addition, Boulder County is working towards a solution to replace the Y bus service and anticipates that there will a fixed route with two morning and two afternoon trips beginning in late Spring. More information will be posted and emailed, as the details firm up.

Lyons Regional LibraryTrivia Night | Thurs FEB 24 All are invited to Virtual Trivia Night, Thurs February 24th from 7:00 - 8:30pm sponsored by Friends of Lyons Library. Assemble a team of up to 6 people, or register as an individual. Go it alone or ask to join a team. Have fun thinking up a clever team name and appoint a team captain who will receive further instructions. Please sign up in advance to reserve your spot! Registration closes at 6:30pm on Thursday Feb 24. Suggested donation is $10.00 per person. There will be four rounds of 10 questions each, all on Zoom, with private breakout rooms for teams to discuss their answers. Proceeds are dedicated to enhancements for the Children’s Garden at the Library. It's time to have some fun!
