Lyons Volunteers have planned a scrap metal and #6 block Styrofoam pick up for Tuesday, July 28 between 9 a.m. and noon. As always, the helpful volunteers will wear masks and practice social distancing.

If you have items for pickup, please fill out the request form by 9:00 p.m. on Monday, July 27, and include an idea of how much material you have. On the morning of the pickup, please put the material in plain view, for quick access to the volunteers.

Lyons Volunteers is now a program of Lyons Emergency Assistance Fund (LEAF); if you wish to make a donation, please direct it to LEAF.

RTD Bus Service in Lyons


Due to budgetary constraints from COVID reductions, RTD may not be able to provide bus service to Lyons, beginning in 2021. Lyons residents are encouraged to learn about the 'Imagine RTD' proposal and take the RTD survey, by July 24.

2nd Avenue Bridge


On July 15, the Town put the 2nd Avenue Bridge replacement project out to bid for construction. Pending final scheduling with the selected contractor, construction is anticipated to begin in September 2020.

What’s happening this week? 
  • Concrete crews are scheduled to grade for new sidewalks along Evans 
  • Crews are scheduled to continue backfilling behind the new curb and gutter and driveways 
  • Asphalt milling and removal is scheduled to occur on 3rd between Main and Evans, on 2nd Ave between Railroad and Park and on 4th between Broadway and Railroad 
  • Bottom Lift of asphalt is scheduled to be placed on 3rd between Broadway and Evans, on 2nd Ave between Railroad and Park and on 4th between Broadway and Railroad starting on Saturday 7/25
What’s happening next week? 7/27 – 8/1 
  • Top Lift of asphalt is scheduled to be placed on 3rd between Main and Evans, on 2nd Ave between Railroad and Park and on 4th between Broadway and Railroad starting on Monday 7/27 
  • Asphalt is scheduled to placed for driveways 
  • Asphalt patch for concrete pan at Cobblestone Court 
  • Concrete crews are scheduled to start to form and pour new sidewalk on 2nd Ave 
  • Pavement striping and signage is scheduled to be completed

Kids Mountain Biking Classes

Kayak Rentals and More!

Safety precautions in place too!
 

The town of Lyons is launching a Kayak Rental Program!  Rent a kayak for a week, month or all season.  All rentals come with a kayak, paddle, life vest and helmet.  Contact recreation@townoflyons.com if you are interested in renting a kayak this summer!

Plein Air Painting classes are now open for registration for kids and seniors.  Space is limited so register soon! 

Fitness in the Park is an action-packed class ithat's all about helping you get outside and getting your body moving correctly. Taught by certified Health Coach and former X Pro Snowboarder Nate Kern, this class takes place in the inspiring setting of LaVern Johnson park and uses park features to aid in your workout. If you want to build strength, improve cardiovascular fitness, and reduce stress this class is for you. 
Current Covid-19 regulations will be practiced in regards to social distancing allowing you to exercise without a mask if you prefer. Please bring a mask to wear when passing within 6' of others.
