Flood Mapping

Preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs)

Meeting in Lyons Monday, FEB 10

An open house for residents and businesses in the Town of Lyons is scheduled for February 10 to review the FEMA appeals process and flood insurance requirements related to the Preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs).

Following the 2013 flood, the state-funded Colorado Hazard Mapping Program (CHAMP) has been re-mapping the regulatory floodplain of the most affected waterways in Colorado.

The Town of Lyons adopted a best available data ordinance  based on draft CHAMP mapping for The Town of Lyons. The draft data were also submitted to FEMA, which released Preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) for CHAMP-studied stream reaches in September 2019.

Homeowners in the impacted areas should attend this important informational session

Monday, Feb. 10 | 5:30  to 7:00 pm
Lyons Regional Library – 451 Fourth Ave.
