What NOT to put down the Garbage Disposal

It's Thanksgiving time, so here is a reminder of pesky items that can clog your drain and/or your garbage disposal.

1. If you're deep-frying your turkey, do NOT pour the leftover grease down the drain. In fact, NEVER pour fats, oils or grease down the drain!
2. Stringy vegetables (celery, pumpkin)... keep them out! The strings get caught and often create problems.
3. Onions and potato peels. Yes, they can and do cause issues with your garbage disposal. Either compost or put them in the trash!
4. Learn more about keeping Fats, Oils and Grease out of the drain.
FOG should be disposed of in a sealed container and tossed into the garbage.
5. Food scraps should be composted - not put through a garbage disposal.
