Lyons Valley River Park Ponds Upon further review, the ecologists who assessed the aquatic vegetation and algae in the Lyons Valley River Park ponds confirmed with Town officials that this growth is common, even expected, of an establishing ecosystem in stagnant water. As time goes on, the ponds will experience greater diversity of inhabiting species, which will provide a growth balance. In the meantime, however, bottom-dwelling fish (carp) and minnows will be introduced to the ponds, which will help reduce the production of algae. Sorry anglers, no fishing in the ponds!
Please remember Lyons Valley River Park is still an active construction site, and remains closed to the public. At this time, project managers anticipate the area will remain closed through the end of the year.
We thank you for your continued patience during our last year of recovery.
