St. Vrain Cross Country Invitational

St. Vrain Cross Country Invitational

Friday, Sept. 7 and Saturday, Sept. 8

A message from Lions Cross Country Coaches, Mark Roberts and Kevin Schafer

Lyons Md/Sr High School and the cross country team are excited to be hosting 100 schools on our cross country course starting Friday afternoon with 37 middle school teams racing at 5:30 and 6 p.m., and then we’ll be welcoming 63 high school teams Saturday morning beginning races at 8:25 a.m. and concluding around noon.

Our Lyons’ team will have over 45 middle schoolers running on Friday, and our high school team of more than 25 competitors will be running at 8:25 a.m. (girls) and 9:00 a.m. (boys) on Saturday. The girls are currently ranked #1 in the state in 2A, and they boys, defending state champions, are ranked second behind Heritage Christian.

We’re writing this letter to ask for your help with our parking situation. Due to ongoing construction in Bohn Park, we are going to need to use the neighborhoods around the school to a much greater extent than past years, and so we’re asking if you would please consider parking in your driveway, whenever possible, to free up as much street space as possible. We will have our cheerleaders, football players, and volleyball athletes helping direct traffic throughout the morning. We will also have a police officer from 7 to 11 a.m. at the McConnell Bridge traffic light on Saturday morning, to keep traffic moving.

This year, we’re excited to let you know that many of our local businesses are offering discounts this weekend to anyone with a rubber wrist band that we’ll be handing out at the meet, as sponsored by the St. Vrain Market. Participating businesses are offering discounts of at least 10% to folks with a wrist band, and they’ll be posting flyers in their windows to show their involvement and support.

We hope this event won’t be an inconvenience to your regular routine, and we appreciate your patience with our crowd. They love coming to this event, and we are thankful to be able to share our beautiful venue with the rest of Colorado.

On behalf of the Lyons Cross Country program, thank you!
