Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment: Public Forum Nov. 30, beginning at 6 p.m.Would you like to learn more about risks that could impact Lyons including floods, dam failures, wildfires, hazardous materials incidents, and other hazards? Throughout 2017, the Town of Lyons worked with hazard mitigation consultants, Amec Foster Wheeler in conducting a series of thorough analyses, to assess likelihoods of threats posed in Lyons. The research-intensive process included various methods of public outreach, through a series of workshops, public hearings, and surveys. The final Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) was completed in 2017, and adopted by the Board of Trustees in September. Now, the Town wants to share the information found from the study with the community. A public forum to discuss these hazards, and how the Town of Lyons is proposing to mitigate or lessen their impact, will be held on November 30, at Oskar Blues. The forum will begin as an open house, for the opportunity to speak with the planning team and consultants, and be followed by a presentation on the assessment, and a question and answer session. Please join us!
Location: Oskar Blues, 303 Main St. Date: Oskar Blues, 303 Main St. Time: Open House: 6:00 to 6:30 p.m. | Meeting: 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Light snacks and beverages will be served. For more information, contact Director of Community Development, Paul Glasgow, at pglasgow@townoflyons.com.

US 34 Traffic Impacts for the Week of November 19via Colorado Department of Transportation Please keep in mind that lane closures are weather dependent and subject to change. Although the closure will be consistent, please continue to check the project website for the most up to date information.? - Sunday, Nov. 19 through Wednesday, Nov. 22 at 4 p.m. US 34 is closed between mile points 83 - 72 with scheduled residential access.
- The highway will be open to all motorists (with or without residential permits) at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, and will remain open until 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26.
- Because the highway is currently a one-lane road for 11 miles, travel will be slow on US 34 and drivers will need to follow a pilot car for their safety. These lane restrictions and the anticipated extra traffic on the road for the holidays could mean delays exceeding one hour, especially on Friday. Motorists should plan for extra travel time if they plan to use US 34, and cyclists should plan not to ride in the busy one lane corridor, for their safety.
We encourage those drivers who can, to still use the US 36 and CO 66 detour for quicker access to and from Estes Park and Loveland. The section of US 34 between mile points 72 – 74, west of Drake, will remain closed where crews are repairing the highway near the landslide. All through-traffic from Loveland to Estes Park will need to use Larimer County Road 43.
