2026 Municipal Budget

2026 Municipal Budget

Public Hearing, Monday November 17 at 7 pm

Each year, the Town’s budget process is one of the most important ways the Board of Trustees sets priorities for our community. The BOT allocates funds for the coming year to make sure we can continue providing the services and resources that make Lyons one of the best places to live in Colorado.

By law, municipal budgets must be balanced—meaning the Town cannot spend more than it receives in revenue—and we must also maintain a minimum reserve to ensure financial stability.

Residents were invited to share their input and ideas through a community budget survey. Thank you to everyone who took the time to participate—your feedback plays an important role in shaping Town priorities. The Board reviewed this input carefully while preparing the proposed 2026 budget, which will be presented for adoption during a public hearing at the November 17 Board of Trustees meeting. Public comment about the budget is welcome at the public hearing.

The Town’s 2026 draft budget is available online at townoflyons.com/budget

Time of Use Graphic

Time of Use Electric Rate Structure

The BOT approved moving to a time-of-use rate structure for electricity later in 2026, meaning electricity costs will vary based on the time of day that you use it. This change encourages energy use during off-peak hours, helping to balance demand. We will be messaging about the upcoming changes each month and in the town e-blast.

Meanwhile, save money and go paperless with your utility bill. Save $2 each month and reduce paper waste. Set up convenient and secure auto-pay. Visit www.townoflyons.com/onlinebilling and sign up today!

Drone flight notification

November 10 - 14

Beginning Monday, Nov. 10, weather permitting, the City of Longmont will be flying an unmanned drone to inspect electrical equipment as part of the City’s maintenance program. These flights are expected to be completed no later than Friday, Nov. 14.

Flights will take place over the utility right-of-way in an area roughly outlined by North 75th Street between St. Vrain Road and Colo. Highway 66, along with the Hygiene and Lyons areas. These missions will be performed between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. There are no planned outages related to this work. As these flights will take place near power lines and equipment, residents are asked to not approach the drone crews for safety reasons.
