Water Main Break Repairs

The Town along with the contractor/excavators located the specific break in the line and found the broken pipe earlier today. The water main break was found along the water main that supplies Eagle Canyon and was a water line that is 6 feet under the ground.
They have brought in the necessary 20 foot long replacement pipe to make the necessary repairs. Work continues today to make the needed repairs and restore water for those who remain without water. At this time we expect the repairs to continue into tomorrow.
In addition, the Town realizes that there may be some isolated cases of residents with brown colored water, from the sediments, which were stirred up system wide yesterday. The discoloration is most often from iron and manganese particles that have settled to the bottom of the water pipes. Because the water mains are pressurized, a disturbance may stir up sediments. The entire water system from our pump station east of Town to our water storage tank west of Town was stirred up. After the water main break was isolated and water shut off to that line, the water tank had to be refilled to get water pressure back up town-wide. The Town did flush water and hydrants at a number of locations around town. It can take a few days for the smaller particles to settle back down leaving the water discolored until they do.
