Housing Futures Plan Technical Draft

Town of Lyons Housing Futures Plan

Review Draft Available

Earlier this year, the Town received a grant from the State of Colorado to develop an updated housing needs assessment and identify innovative solutions to support the development of affordable and attainable housing. The work to date has centered around the comprehensive development of a Housing Futures Plan for the Town of Lyons that not only outlines affordability issues related to the town’s current housing stock, but also outlines future housing needs. This plan is intended to support near-term and future policy and regulatory strategies to address the identified housing needs of the community and builds on the goals outlined in the recently adopted Lyons Thrive! Comprehensive Plan.

The public is invited to review the current technical review draft of the document and provide feedback to the Board of Trustees. Two informational sessions are planned during the BOT’s January 2 and January 16 meetings.

Town snow removal:

Help us help you

‘Tis the season for snow removal in Lyons, and the Town’s fleet is poised to help manage the snow and icy conditions brought by mountain winter weather. The Town’s Snow and Ice Response Procedures outline priorities and operations during winter weather events. Streets, Sidewalks/Trails and Storm Drains are cleared according to these priorities.

Wayfinding Survey and Public Input

Your Input Requested

Wayfinding Signage Designs

Wayfinding uses signage, color, and other design elements to help navigate a place. The goal of the new wayfinding plan is to help make it easier for users to find their way around Lyons, while also creating designs that reflect the unique, friendly and colorful character of the community.

We have two preliminary designs to share, based on all the input earlier this fall. Share your preferences and ideas regarding the preliminary signage & wayfinding options!

The first part of the survey includes images and descriptions of the 2 design option banners.  Please take a look at these 2 options and record your likes/dislikes for each. Then use the second part of the survey to choose the option you most prefer.

Your comments and ideas will help us refine these preliminary options into the final draft design.

Waiting for cold temperatures for ice skating

Weather and Ice Skating Rink

Waiting for prolonged cold temperatures

We are waiting on Mother Nature to cooperate and usher in Old Man Winter, so that our parks and public works team can set up the ice rink. However, with temps being in the 50’s/60’s this week, we don't see long term colder temperatures until after the Christmas Holiday. Please understand that it may take until after the new year to get to prolonged freezing temperatures as daytime temps look to remain above freezing through the first of the year. If you are doing a snow dance, add a dance for freezing temperatures too if you like to ice skate outdoors!

Holiday Blues

The holidays can present a number of challenges. When it comes to stress and mental health matters, sometimes there’s a tendency to want to wait it out and see how things go. But if you’re feeling anxious or depressed, now is the time to talk to someone. Take care of yourselves and others this season.

Solar Co Op

Boulder County Solar Co-op

Resources and interest

After filling up within a week of the initial September launch, the Boulder County Solar Co-op is reopening to new interested members--homeowners AND small businesses--through the end of the year.

Joining the co-op does NOT require a commitment to install solar on your building. Instead, it is a resource for learning more about incorporating solar from a group of peers to share experiences with, and an opportunity for easier, cheaper solar installations thanks to group purchasing. Interested in learning  more? Visit their website for into and to sign up by December 31!
