Parade of Lights
Tonight - 6:30 pm sharp!
The “Starry Starry Night” themed Holiday Parade of Lights will be a moving festival of lights and floats traveling along Main Street through the historic downtown, beginning at 6:30 pm sharp tonight, Saturday, December 3. We have 40+ entries! Way to represent Lyons!
There will not be a post-parade fireworks show. A decision needs to be made two months in advance (by Oct 1), to procure and order a complete show and shells. Coming off the heels of another very dry summer and early fall, it did not look feasible at that time. New for this year, after the parade, are plans for stargazing, by the A-lodge with two local astronomy professors, the "Stone Canyon Stargazers". Come and be mesmerized by our great big universe.
Parking will be limited for the parade, with no vehicles parked along Main Street. The Parade of Lights will start at 2nd and US-36/SH-66, heading westbound along Main St, turning right at 5th Ave and right again (eastbound) on to High Street. Please try and park from Railroad Ave to the south and walk up if possible to Main Street to catch the parade.
A special thank you to all of the volunteers, parade entrants and sponsors who make the parade possible and fun! We couldn't do it without YOU!
Also a big SHOUT OUT to the Town of Lyons Parks and Public Works staff who prepared the holiday lights along Main Street and Sandstone Park for the season. We appreciate all you do!
