4th Ave Pedestrian Bridge and Safe Route to School Opening Celebration

YES! Let's BOOGIE Lyons! After a long journey, the 4th Avenue Pedestrian Bridge and Safe Route to School project, connecting our middle and elementary schools is wrapping up.

Join us for a community celebration at the bridge on Friday, October 21. We hope to gather along the southern side around 2:30 pm and celebrate! The elementary students, staff and families will head over after school lets out (2:50 pm). We hope many of you can join us.

So many are excited to have this neighborhood connection and path back! Join in the celebration and sharing of community spirit, resilience, determination and GRIT as flood recovery projects continue to wrap up and wind down in Lyons.

Community Theater Production

Come to the library to support talented locals who will entertain you with two productions with a nostalgic trip to the bygone days of radio theater with episodes of "Dragnet" and "Burns and Allen". This multigenerational volunteer cast is ready to entertain you and make you laugh.

The shows are at the Lyons Library. Wine and soft drinks will be available for the Friday evening performance; soft drinks only for Saturday matinee. Free admission but donations are appreciated with all proceeds to Lyons Arts and Humanities Commission and the Friends of Lyons Library.

Boulder County Parks and Open Space

Neighborhood Meeting

Boulder County Parks and Open Space staff will be hosting a meeting for residents concerned about their planned application of herbicides for cheatgrass control on the Hall Ranch/Corona Hill Open Space.

The meeting will be on Tuesday, Oct 25th from 6:30 - 8 pm at the Lyons Fire District Building along Railroad Ave (address is 251 Broadway) in Lyons.

LEAF Lyons Emergency Assistance

Fund-raiser | Friday, October 28

Get your costumes ready! LEAF’s biggest fundraiser and dance party, Rave To The Grave, is Friday, October 28 at Lavern Johnson Park. Doors open at 5:30 PM. Lyons Spooktacular

Mark your calendars Lyons!

Saturday, October 29th Town staff is working to plan a fun, outdoor family-friendly Lyons Spooktacular Parade and events! The events begin at 4:00 pm at the Lyons Elementary School, with the parade along Main Street beginning at 6 pm. The Chili Cook-off returns for 2022 in a new location, at Main Stage Brewing at 4:30 pm.

Medicare Open Enrollment is Oct. 15 to Dec. 7

Connect with Boulder County Area Agency on Aging’s Medicare Counselors for personalized assistance

Boulder County Area Agency on Aging encourages participating Medicare enrollees to connect with the agency's certified Medicare counselors beginning October 20, 2022 during open enrollment. Each year, from Oct. 15-Dec. 7, people on Medicare can review and change their prescription drug plans (Part D) or Medicare Advantage Plans (Part C.) These plans can change their costs, coverage, providers and pharmacies, so it is important to review the current plan and see if there is a better plan for 2023.

Return to In-person and hybrid meetings

Starting Thursday, Oct. 27, members of the public are invited to attend in-person public hearings and meetings of the Board of County Commissioners, the Planning Commission, and the Parks & Open Space Advisory Committee. The Commissioners' Hearing Room was closed during the pandemic due to public health precautions and to facilitate a renovation for ‘hybrid meetings’, which allow for simultaneous in-person and online attendance and participation. >> Read more.
