Paving and Crack Sealing Repairs

Crack Sealing North side of Lyons


Residents north of Main St will be impacted with a Crack Sealing project planned for today, November 12 thru Monday, November 15, including the weekend.

Streets impacted include:

High St (from 2nd to 3rd)
Stickney-from 3rd East to alley

3rd Ave-from Stickney to Seward 
4th Ave from Stickney North 
Seward
Reese


The contractor can accomplish more and hit more surface area on the street if there are not vehicles parked on the streets when they are doing the crack sealing (filling the cracks on roads to prolong them and protect from water). These are not hard closures, but asking those residents to please move your vehicles while crews are in the area to complete the work on their streets, from 7 am - 5 pm.

Run for Something! Run for Office

Fresh on the heels of the November election, the library is hosting an event encouraging residents who might be interested in running for local office. 

Interested in public service? Curious about how town-wide decisions are made? Want to make an impact?
Join the Lyons Area Chamber of Commerce and Lyons Regional Library via Zoom on Saturday, November 13th at 10:30am for Run for Something!

You'll learn how to run for local office, serve as a town trustee, or join a town board or commission. They'll have a short presentation, followed by a panel discussion and Q & A.

Capital Improvement Projects

Lots of projects happening throughout Lyons in November


Intersection of Mountain View, 1st and 2nd – A new waterline is being installed in the road from 804 Mountain View Dr to 1st Ave. Staging of some materials will be in the turn around at the top of Mountain View Dr. Work is scheduled to begin Nov 17th.

Longs Peak Dr. – Sewer work is scheduled to be finished by November 19th. Beginning November 22nd work on the waterline is scheduled to begin at 3rd and Longs Peak.

Eagle Canyon Sewer Lift Station – The Town is getting Longmont Power connected to the Town's sewer lift station, which handles the wastewater for Eagle Canyon. This will be a source of backup power for this facility located in front of the CDOT property on Hwy 36. This work is not related to the small cell 5G tower work.

Sewer Cleaning and Video  – The Town is having the sewer lines on the North side of Town cleaned and videoed Nov 29th through Dec 10th. There will be large trucks moving throughout town for this work.

Longmont’s Water line project - Night time work is scheduled along 5th Ave from Evans to Park Dr, beginning the week of Nov 29th. Due to the closure of State Highway 7 (5th Ave), CDOT is requiring Longmont to complete this part of their waterline project during the night time.

Lyons Parade of Lights


In just three short weeks, the Parade of Lights and Lyons Holiday Artisan Market are scheduled, for the weekend of December 4th and 5th. The parade begins at 6:30 pm, along Main St (which is closed for the parade) and will be filled with illuminated, colorful floats, many of which will be decorated in the theme of this year’s parade — “Winter Around the World”.

NEW!!! Registration and check-in tent will be located in front of  the Lyons Elementary School, 338 High Street. The  registration and check- in area will be open from 5 - 5:45 pm. The parade route is being modified slightly this year as well to ensure safety of pedestrians and drivers through Lyons.

RV Parking Ordinance

NEW!

Effective January 18, 2022,  recreation vehicles, watercraft and trailers in excess of 20 feet in length excluding hitches and  tongues, may not be parked on town streets or right-of-way for periods longer than 72 hours.
