Call for artists! The Lyons Arts and Humanities Commission (LAHC) seeks artists for the next in our Creative Outlets series. The Creative Outlets program enhances our community and brings beauty to unexpected places, by adding color and interesting designs to utility boxes in Lyons.
The utility box is located in beautiful LaVern Johnson Park. Compensation for painting the selected utility box is $1,000. Deadline to apply is April 5, 2021. Feel free to forward to your creative friends!

Finding Joy in Lyons

Via a Poetry Contest

Here in Lyons, we are so fortunate to be surrounded by beautiful views and inspiring visual art. Now, the Lyons Arts and Humanities Commission (LAHC) is calling all area poets to submit poems inspired by a similar theme “Finding Joy and Beauty in Lyons” for its inaugural Lyons Poetry in Public Places project.

What does it mean to you, in your everyday life, in your memory, in your heart to find joy and beauty in Lyons?

Put those thoughts on paper in an artful way. LAHC members will serve as judges. Prizes will be award and poems will be selected to be exhibited on posters that will be displayed throughout the Town of Lyons. Learn more!

Improvements at LVRP

Over the next two weeks

Work will begin this week, to add additional materials and stream maintenance at the October and November Hole river features east of the ponds Lyons Valley River Park area. From time to time these types of areas need maintenance and replenishment.

The work should be complete in the next two weeks and no project materials will be staged on site. The section of trail needed to haul materials will be closed during the daytime hours when construction is taking place.

Goodwill Grants

The Town of Lyons has opened the 2021 Goodwill Grant Application. The Goodwill Fund grant recipients may apply for funding to add value to a group or groups of people in the Lyons area.
The purpose of the Goodwill Fund is to assist nonprofit organizations that help low-income individuals and families in the Lyons and greater Lyons (80540) area meet their basic needs.

New electric meter installation

Started this week!

Postcards were sent out to all Lyons electric utility customers regarding this upcoming project.

If you need to schedule your replacement for a particular day or time, there is a 1-800 number to contact the contractor if you need to schedule an appointment.

Please be sure your electric meter is accessible for the upcoming work. It is the homeowners responsibility to be sure their electric meter is accessible at all times.
