Tis the Season!Making Our List and Checking it Twice!
With Town Hall closed for the final two days of the week for the Christmas Holiday, knowing that 2020 has brought us all significant challenges, we wanted to check in and share with our residents the good items which made our list!
We are grateful for the natural beauty, sandstone cliffs & spectacular sunsets that surround Lyons. Your Lyons' area restaurants and businesses have been working tirelessly, please be sure to stop in and support them! New sidewalks and improved storm drainage along High St and 4th Ave. Mother Nature - keeping the rivers flowing, snow fluttering and the ice rink frozen! Essential workers -- on the front lines every day. Design and engineering proposals for the 4th Ave Pedestrian Bridge and Safe Route to School were due and submitted last week. Since we have no place to go, Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! The conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter-- last visible at night for earthlings in 1226! We have a generous and giving community, supporting the Lyons Community Foundation and LEAF, the Lyons Emergency Assistance Fund. We are lucky to be surrounded by plenty of open space to get outside and explore. Our neighbors & creating new traditions. Have you voted yet in the Let It Glow!? A resilient, safer single span bridge at 2nd Ave is under construction. Woof! Ruff! The 10 acre dog park beloved by four-legged friends! 23 Lyons Businesses and 2 Lyons Non-Profits were awarded CARES Funding Grants this week, ranging from $900 - $10,000. Public artwork installed along Main St and in town, including the Bell of Renewal. - Lyons Volunteers! They collected over one ton of scrap metal, 30 cubic yards of block Styrofoam and saved 4.13 tons of leaves from the Landfill this year.
Kids of all ages are ripping it up at the new skate park! Softball and baseball return for 2021! Surrounding yourself with what matters. "One kind word can warm three winter months." - Japanese Proverb
