Ice Rink Open!

Thanks to Mother Nature and cold temperatures, the ice rink is scheduled to open this weekend! Just in time for winter break and the Holidays. 
For the 2020-2021 Winter Season, MASK UP! Masks are required when you cannot maintain 6 ft of space from another person outside your household. Please adhere to COVID safety protocols when using the rink. And don't forget the ice rink is weather dependent. Check out all the info online!

The Town is also in search of an ice skating instructor to work through the Recreation Department to offer individual and/or group lessons at LaVern Johnson Ice Rink.  If you know someone qualified or need more information please contact the Recreation Coordinator at: lramsey@townoflyons.com

Community Tree 

Lavern M Johnson Park

The bright glow of the holidays has a different feel this year. Add your personal touch at the Community Tree in Lavern Johnson Park.

Community Tree
Residents are invited to add an ornament to a Community Tree in LaVern Johnson Park. On its own, an ornament has few uses, but hung on an illuminated tree with an array of other unique ornaments, it helps form a beautiful and interesting work of art.

To participate, bring an ornament to LaVern Johnson Park, and hang on one of the  three designated Community Trees. The trees are located along the south side of the ice rink, and will have signs identifying each of the trees.

Unfortunately, the Town will not be able to return ornaments at the end of the season, so please make sure it's one you are willing to up. Please ensure ornaments can be hung securely, and sturdy enough to withstand any variation of weather.

2nd Ave Bridge Construction

New single span bridge for 2021

The contractor has begun to dismantle the bridge in sections this week. Check out the video!

Please stay out of the work zone, as it is an active construction area. 2nd Avenue and the trail underneath the bridge are closed.
Expect elevated noise levels associated with demolition work. Work hours are from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. The contractor may work on Saturday (12/19). Utility relocation work continues along 2nd Avenue.

COVID Testing Sites

200 2nd Ave Lyons
Friday, Dec 18 | 1:30pm - 3pm

Boulder County Public Health, in partnership with Boulder Community Health and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment will provide free COVID testing in Lyons this  Friday, from 1:30 pm - 3 pm.

No appointment is needed, and individuals do not need to have COVID-19 symptoms to be tested. Individuals who are 65 years old or older or are essential workers are encouraged to attend.

Location: Parking lot of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 200 2nd Ave, Lyons
Hours: 1:30 – 3 p.m. every Friday through the end of the year, weather permitting and excluding holidays. 
Requirement: Mask must be worn 
Note: The testing will be closed on Friday, Dec. 25  

Free Testing at the Boulder County Fairgrounds in Longmont
The Boulder County free testing site is now at the Boulder County Fairgrounds in Longmont . Testing is available for anyone who would like to be tested, and individuals do not have to have symptoms to be tested.

Location: Boulder County Fairgrounds, 9595 Nelson Rd, Longmont.
Hours: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., 7 days per week.
