Boulder County Fire Updates
SUN OCT 18 7:00 PM UPDATE
The Town of Lyons and the Lyons Fire Protection District wants to ensure that our community has the most up to date information regarding the local fires.
Lyons Fire Protection District has reported that the #CalWoodFire is now at 15% containment and has not seen a significant change in acreage today. The Town of Lyons, along with Lyons Park Estates and all parts west of the Lyons Fire District between US-36 and Highway 7 remain under an evacuation warning (formally known as pre-evacuation notice).
As a reminder, an evacuation warning means to be prepared to leave at a moments notice.
The types of wildfires we have, can involve fast moving and escalating fires. If it changes to an evacuation order, then residents should leave immediately. In the meantime, keep an eye on the
Boulder County OEM website, Facebook Page and/or their Twitter feed for further information.
It's been sunny and windy on the Peak to Peak, and the new fire is currently estimated at 300 acres. Today's weather was helpful for the Calwood Fire, and fire fighters hope to "tighten" the fires before warmer, windier weather arrives once again.
If people want to help, please consider a monetary donation to one or more of the nonprofit partners affected by the fire or working to address the needs of our neighbors:
Please continue to pay attention to the public information releases and briefings.
1. The best way to be notified if a future evacuation may happen is to sign up with Boulder County Alert System

3. The Boulder Office of Emergency Management continues to update their website with important fire information. https://www.boulderoem.com/emergency-status/
Now is the best time to prepare to evacuate should the fire change. Preparedness is critical during these times and everyone can do their part. Our local volunteer community of Lyons Prepared has compiled a brochure of what to do to be prepared during wildfire season, and you can find the link here: Prepare for a Wildfire Wildfire.
We remind all residents in the Town of Lyons to please sign up for the Boulder County emergency messaging system.
Let's continue to take care of each, be prepared and stay safe!
