Cameron Peak Fire Update
Lyons Fire Protection District and the Town of Lyons wants to ensure that our community has the most up to date information possible regarding the Cameron Peak Fire to our north.
As of this morning, Saturday October 17th
, the fire has remained north of Highway 34 and there are no evacuations affecting our fire district.
To stay up to date regarding evacuations for the fire in Northern Colorado, please follow https://nocoalert.org/
You can also text the word LCEVAC to 888777 to receive text message alerts about evacuations, road closures, credentialing, and other important updates.
The best way to ensure you will be notified if an evacuation occurs in your area is to sign up for the Larimer County and/or Boulder County emergency messaging systems. Those two sites can be found here:
Larimer County: https://member.everbridge.net/892807736722338/new
Boulder County: https://www.bouldercounty.org/safety/emergency/emergency-mass-notification-system/
If the fire were to move south and begin to affect our district, the Boulder Office of Emergency Management will be the source of information for evacuation and support needs. https://www.boulderoem.com/
The Larimer County equivalent can be found at www.larimer.org/cameron-peak-fire
Our community is amazing, and we have already been contacted by several people asking how to help. As of right now, the best way to help is to take care of yourself and your neighbors. Preparedness is critical during these times and everyone can do their part. Our local volunteer community of Lyons Prepared has compiled a brochure of what to do to be prepared during wildfire season
, and you can find the link here: Prepare for a Wildfire Wildfire
