Flushing Water Line in ProgressPublic Works Crew Working on Water Public works staff has been notified of discoloration of water by some residents. They are flushing the water lines to help clear the lines.
How does this happen? Water is delivered to your home or business through a network of underground pipes referred to as the distribution system. The principal pipe or conduit is called a main. Water mains in this distribution system can fail due to age, corrosion, high pressure surges, defective materials, or damage by construction work. When the water main has an issue, the increased velocity of the water can pick up dirt and other materials that normally settle to the bottom of the pipes.
If you notice discolored water, run your cold water until the water runs clear. You may also notice fluctuations in your water pressure during that time. Thank you for your understanding.
