Utility Billing Error

Residents who received their April utility bill in recent days or who have checked their utility bill online, may have noticed their March automatic payment from Xpress Bill Pay was not applied properly to their March bill. This may have also resulted in additional penalty charges including late fees and interest.

Jill Johnson, Town of Lyons Finance Director noted, “There was a problem with crediting utility payments from payments made on March 19 – March 22 for customers who used the online program XPress Bill Pay.” The Finance Director said we are working on correcting the error and will remove any late fees and penalties. Approximately 10% of accounts were impacted.

If customers paid any additional late or interest fees due to the error, they will be credited on the next bill. The Town regrets the error and apologizes for the inconvenience. Customers may contact the Finance Director, Jill Johnson with questions, 303.823.6622 ext 17 or via email jjohnson@townoflyons.com.

Emergency Siren Testing

Emergency warning sirens

Testing begins April 6

Starting on Monday, April 6th seasonal siren testing will begin in Lyons. The test is the first of the monthly emergency audible siren tests, which take place each year on the first Monday of each month from April through August. The audible siren tests will occur twice on each testing day, at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., on April 6, May 4, June 1, July 6 and August 3. Siren tests ensure that all systems and procedures are working properly during the season of peak flood danger and is in no way related to COVID-19.

The annual siren testing is a good reminder for community members to sign up for emergency alerts at www.BoCo911alert.com. This system allows all community members in Boulder County and all cities within the county to be notified of emergency situations in a variety of ways including on their cell phone, home and work phones and by text messaging and e-mail.

Community members are encouraged to review their own emergency preparedness plans and discuss what they would do in the event of a flash flood or other emergency. For more information about personal preparedness, visit www.ReadyColorado.com.

Help Stop the Spread of Germs

2-1-1 Colorado

Last week, in partnership with Mile High United Way, the Colorado State Emergency Operations Center activated 2-1-1 Colorado to connect Coloradans with human service resources statewide.

Coloradans can reach 2-1-1 Colorado online at 211Colorado.org, by dialing 2-1-1 or texting your Zip Code to 898-211. Do not call 911 for COVID-19 questions unless it is a medical emergency.

2-1-1 Colorado is a confidential and multilingual service connecting people across the State of Colorado to vital resources in their local community. 2-1-1 serves as one central location where people can access over 7,500 health and human service resources.

Callers may experience long wait times, as demand for information is high. 2-1-1 Colorado is hiring in order to reduce wait times and meet Coloradans’ needs. Coloradans can also reach 2-1-1 Colorado online at 211Colorado.org.

Lyons Support

Lyons Resources during COVID-19

Watching the world- wide events of late reminds us that Lyons is a community that has always prided itself on taking care of our neighbors and local businesses, many of which have felt the pain of a downturn in sales.

As citizens, we are all making adjustments to our daily routine to ensure the health and safety of our families, friends, and neighbors. Many of our local businesses have also made great strides and efforts to keep their stores and restaurants safe, clean and open for business, including expanding their services to have delivery and curbside pickup that will reduce too many people to people interactions.

We appreciate that many of you are also limiting exposure and practicing safe, social distancing. The Lyons Chamber of Commerce has a page that is continually updated regarding local business offerings and the Town has a dedicated COVID-19 webpage, with resources and information all in one spot.

Lyons - Grit and Grace
Thanks to all of you who continue to support Lyons where you can, while continuing to help contain the spread of germs.
