2-1-1 Colorado

Yesterday, in partnership with Mile High United Way, the Colorado State Emergency Operations Center activated 2-1-1 Colorado to connect Coloradans with human service resources statewide.

Coloradans can reach 2-1-1 Colorado online at 211Colorado.org, by dialing 2-1-1 or texting your Zip Code to 898-211. Do not call 911 for COVID-19 questions unless it is a medical emergency.

2-1-1 Colorado is a confidential and multilingual service connecting people across the State of Colorado to vital resources in their local community. 2-1-1 serves as one central location where people can access over 7,500 health and human service resources.

Callers may experience long wait times, as demand for information is high. 2-1-1 Colorado is hiring in order to reduce wait times and meet Coloradans’ needs. Coloradans can also reach 2-1-1 Colorado online at 211Colorado.org.

2-1-1 provides navigation services to resources such as:
•    Housing, including shelters and transitional services.
•    Rent and utility assistance.
•    Applying for SNAP benefits by phone.
•    Childcare.
•    Food/meals.
•    Transportation.
•    Clothing/personal/household needs.
•    Mental health and substance use disorders.
•    Employment.
•    Education.
•    Medical clinics.

•    Other government/economic services.

Lyons Support

Lyons Resources during COVID-19

Watching the world- wide events of late reminds us that Lyons is a community that has always prided itself on taking care of our neighbors and local businesses, many of which have felt the pain of a downturn in sales.

As citizens, we are all making adjustments to our daily routine to ensure the health and safety of our families, friends, and neighbors. Many of our local businesses have also made great strides and efforts to keep their stores and restaurants safe, clean and open for business, including expanding their services to have delivery and curbside pickup that will reduce too many people to people interactions.

We appreciate that many of you are also limiting exposure and practicing safe, social distancing. The Lyons Chamber of Commerce has a page that is continually updated regarding local business offerings and the Town has a dedicated COVID-19 webpage, with resources and information all in one spot.

Lyons - Grit and Grace
Thanks to all of you who continue to support Lyons where you can, while conitnuing to help contain the spread of germs.

State and County stay-at-home orders

Shortly after Boulder County issued a stay-at-home order on Wednesday, a similar order was issued Thursday, March 26th, statewide by Governor Polis. Both the state and county orders apply to Lyons. The Governor's order defers to more protective orders issued by local public health authorities.  As a reminder, do not to call 911 unless it is an emergency.
211 has been activated, please use that for COVID related questions and/or clarification.

Voting is essential business! Don't delay...

Voters are asked to complete and return their Municipal Election Ballots as soon as possible.
In an effort to maintain social distancing and minimize the spread of COVID-19, the Clerk's office is encouraging voters to return ballots through the mail or to use the Town's drive-up ballot drop off at the main entrance to Town Hall. The drop-off location is currently available 24 hours a day and will close promptly at 7 pm on Election Day, Tuesday, April 7 when the polls close. Election judges will also be available 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day, April 7.

Lyons Volunteers

Need a volunteer pick-up service?

Lyons Volunteers (LoV), in collaboration with Lyons Emergency & Assistance Fund (LEAF), is working on a plan for picking up essential items for at-risk area residents.  Please let us know if you or someone you know has an urgent need for a service like this.

If you have an urgent need, please fill out a Help Request form on the Lyons Volunteers website. If you have family or neighbors who can meet your needs, that may be your best alternative, especially if they can consolidate trips and minimize close contact with others.

If you or someone you know still needs someone to get items, let us know so we can plan accordingly. At this time we are only assessing need. We can’t yet to commit to specific services until we understand the needs.

Any service would adhere to current recommended practices:

  • Recipients will stay inside and volunteers will stay outside and practice social distancing (6+ feet apart from anyone in public)
  • Hand washing, use of sanitizer and avoidance of contact with un-sanitized surfaces is essential.
  • Volunteers will wear fresh gloves to minimize potential contamination
  • Travel between communities should be held to a minimum.
  • Use of paper money or coins is to be avoided. Pre-payment on-line or electronic payment such as PayPal is the alternative.
  • We need adequate, but NOT EXCESSIVE supplies of food, medicine, and hygiene supplies.
  • We all need to heed the instructions of public health officials as they develop.

For questions about this service, use the www.lyonsvolunteers.org help request form.  Someone will respond to you by phone or e-mail. To serve as a volunteer, please email Volunteer@leaflyons.org.
