April 7 Municipal Election update
How to return your ballot or have a ballot reissued April 7
The Town of Lyons will hold the next regular Municipal Election on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. as a mail ballot-only election. Ballots were mailed to all registered voters on Monday, March 16. Absentee ballots can be requested through April 3. Voters may cast ballots now through April 7 at 7 p.m.
Returning ballots
In an effort to maintain social distancing and minimize the spread of COVID-19, the Clerk's office is encouraging voters to return ballots either via the US Mail or at the drive-up ballot drop off at the main entrance to Town Hall. If using the US Mail, the return ballots require standard postage of $0.55. Alternatively, The Town Clerk's office has use of the drive-up ballot drop off at the main entrance to Town Hall for the Municipal Election. The 24-hour drop-off box is available beginning Tuesday, March 17 through 7 p.m. on Election Day, April 7. Election judges will also be available 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day, April 7.
All ballots must be received by 7 p.m. April 7, when the polls close, in order to be counted - postmarks do not count. Swearing-in of newly elected Town Trustees will be at the April 20th Board of Trustees Meeting.
Need a ballot?
Voters should call the Town Clerkâs office at 303-823-6622 x12 or if they did not receive a ballot by Monday, March 23, or if the ballot was spoiled. A ballot can be reissued and mailed, or voters may pick up a reissued ballot during normal ballot drop off hours listed above.
Sample ballot
The April 7 election will determine the Mayor and six Trustee seats on the Board of Trustees. Candidates for Mayor are Jocelyn Farrell and Nicholas Angelo. Candidates for Trustee are Greg Lowell, Kenyon Waugh, Mike Karavas, Mark Browning, G. Robert Brackenridge, Hollie Rogin and Wendy Miller.
A candidate forum was held on March 9th. Residents may view the Candidate Forum, which was recorded and uploaded.
