Scrap Metal and Block Styrofoam

Lyons Volunteers will be picking up! Feb. 26

Yes! Another reason to love Lyons! Residents have an alternative to throwing block Styrofoam and scrap metal in the trash if you make a pick up request via lyonsvolunteers.org

The next pick up date is Wednesday, February 26, 2020 for scrap metal and # 6 Styrofoam, and the Lyons Volunteers will bring them to CHaRM (The Center for Hard to Recycle Materials). The date is "weather permitting".

Shout out to the Lyons Volunteers! In 2019, they completed 11 pickups of scrap metal/block styrofoam with 106.5 volunteer hours. They estimate that residents recycled 6,160 pounds (Wow!) of scrap metal. Some of the materials were accepted by Resource for resale, and the rest went to the scrap metal bin at CHaRM.
The Lyons Volunteers also collected 26 cubic yards of #6 Styrofoam, (they started collecting Styrofoam in April, 2019).
