As we enter the new decade, what do '20s' mean to you? Art of all mediums, abilities, and artistic interpretation are invited to share!

Bring up to 5 ready-to-hang "20s, What's in a Number?" creations to Lyons Town Hall on Friday, January 31, between 5 and 7 p.m.

Lyons Regional Library Featured Artist: Larry Cohen

New in 2020! The Lyons Arts and Humanities Commission (LAHC) has partnered with the newly opened Lyons Regional Library, to extend the quarterly shows into the newly opened library. For its inaugural year, each art show at the library will showcase featured artists. The LAHC is proud to introduce Larry Cohan's Neighborhood Retrospective as the first Lyons Regional Library Art Show.

Join us for the opening reception, on Wednesday, February 5, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. The show will be on display through April 3, 2020.

Winter Wonderland Concert Series

February 8 Finale!


The celebration of the season continues this weekend with small-town winter fun!

Saturday, February 8, the Town will host another Winter Wonderland Concert Series from 2 pm to 4 pm.

Volunteers from the Lyons Booster Club will be serving up hot cocoa and treats (donation only).  The scientists in Lyons have proven that hot cocoa is more satisfying with your own reusable mug, so please help Mother Earth and bring your own container for hot cocoa! We hope to see you there!

Flood Mapping

Preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs)

Meeting in Lyons Monday, FEB 10


An open house for residents and businesses in the Town of Lyons is scheduled for February 10 to review the FEMA appeals process and flood insurance requirements related to the Preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs).

Following the 2013 flood, the state-funded Colorado Hazard Mapping Program (CHAMP) has been re-mapping the regulatory floodplain of the most affected waterways in Colorado.

The Town of Lyons adopted a best available data ordinance  based on draft CHAMP mapping for The Town of Lyons. The draft data were also submitted to FEMA, which released Preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) for CHAMP-studied stream reaches in September 2019.

Homeowners in the impacted areas should attend this important informational session

In this class we will make soothing bath bombs to nourish the body and soul. You will learn about the healing benefits of calming herbs such as lavender, chamomile and arnica to relieve sore muscles & over stimulated minds. You will make three bath bombs to take home, to give as gifts or keep for your own self- love this Valentine’s Day.

Lavender Fun!

A Reminder from Lyons Middle/Senior High School


Please remember to not use school property unless you are there on school business.This includes four legged dogs. This means the track, baseball fields and football fields and all open areas at the school during normal operating hours when school is in session.
The Town of Lyons has a large dog park where you may let dogs off leash to run around, please do not use the school grounds for this. Thank you.

Beginning early March

A 30-day full closure of US 36 at MM 8 (West of Lyons on the way to Estes Park)  is planned for the March-April time period. As soon as the exact date of this closure is set it will be posted by CDOT. They plan to host a public meeting in advance of the closure and share more information on commuter travel times and detours using State Highway 7 and Rte 34..

Hunter Education Class

February 8 and 9


In Colorado, any hunter born after January 1, 1949 is required to take a 15-hour education course. Hunter Education certificates are valid in all states and are good for life. Areas to be touched on during the course include: survival, ethics, conservation, wildlife management, the law, field care of game, game identification, and the philosophy of hunting.
Age: all ages welcome; must be able to read and have a good attention span (9 and up works best)
Fee: $10 per student, scholarships available
Dates: Saturday Feb 8 (8am-5pm) & Sunday Feb 9 (8am-1pm)

The Town of Lyons will hold the next regular Municipal Election on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 as a mail ballot-only election for the mayor and six trustee seats on the Board of Trustees, among over initiatives. Registered electors 18 years of age or older who have resided inside Town limits for at least 12 consecutive months immediately preceding April 7, have submitted their petitions and have been certified by the Town Clerk for the April 7, 2020 election.
