Christmas Tree Recycling
Lyons Volunteers Return for 2020!
The gift of giving continues this holiday season when you recycle your Christmas Tree with Lyons Volunteers, where it will live on as mulch for the Botanic Garden. The Town of Lyons is partnering with Lyons Volunteers for a one day only Christmas Tree Recycling Program!
Trees must be stripped of all ornaments, tinsel and other decorations, and be placed outside your residence by 8:00 a.m. on Friday, January 10, to be picked up by the Lyons Volunteers, as they go through each local neighborhood (within Town limits).
Wreaths, garland, artificial trees, or tree stands will not be accepted.
While this service is free of charge to local residents, we encourage you to make a donation to either the Lyons Community Foundation, Lyons Emergency Assistance Fund (LEAF), or the Lyons Historical Society. Simply tie or rubber band your tax-deductible donation to your tree before placing it in front of your residence.
Lyons Volunteers will be begin collecting the trees on Friday, January 10 ONLY, beginning at 8 a.m.
Important notes:
This is a one day only program.
There is not a drop-off location.
Wreaths will not be accepted.
The Lyons Volunteers will take the tree ONLY, just as it once lived in nature -- free of all tinsel, ornaments, lights, nails, stands, etc. The recycled Christmas trees will be chipped.
While the Lyons Volunteers will collect from each residential neighborhood, submitting a formalized request through the Lyons Volunteers' website will help the Volunteers gauge anticipated volume and timing, and make them aware of any special circumstances.
