Garbage Kills Bears

Remain Bear Aware

During hyperphagia

Black bears in Colorado are entering hyperphagia and will spend up to 20 hours a day trying to eat more than 20,000 calories to fatten up for winter. As bears start to prepare for hibernation and hunt for food, there might be increased bear activity in Lyons. Keep your trash in the garage or secure it until the morning of your trash pick up. Do not put it out the night before.

Locking up trash and other potential food sources from bears is important to prevent them from becoming reliant on these sources for food. Bears become more of a risk when they associate humans with a food source. Garbage kills bears.

Wayfinding Input

Lyons Wayfinding Input

In person or via survey

Wayfinding uses signage, color, and other design elements to help navigate a place. We’re kicking off the wayfinding discovery for Lyons this week and invite you to fill out this short survey or drop in to open house times at the Library! The goal of the new wayfinding plan is to help make it easier for folks to find their way around Lyons, while also creating designs that reflect the unique, friendly and colorful character of the community.

Please stop by the library to talk through what types of wayfinding are important to you, and any ideas you have about the types and styles of signage needed (or less needed) in Lyons.   Stop in and check it out from  2-6 on Tuesday, and then again from 1-5 on Wednesday. And if you have a moment, please give your input via this short survey.
