Net Metering

Net Metering Policy

Tuesday, Feb. 16 | 5:30 pm

Workshop Agenda Item: Net Metering and Grants for Renewable Projects

The UEB recommends changing the Lyons Net Metering policy to eliminate the subsidy currently given to new rooftop solar installations. Lyons has a high penetration of solar installations that are subsidized at a much higher rate than other sources of renewable energy. An update will also be given on the status of renewable energy projects in Lyons, including the UC Denver Lyons Solar Farm Feasibility Study.

What is net metering?  Net metering is a billing mechanism that credits solar energy system owners for the electricity they add to the grid. For example, if a residential customer has a PV system on their roof, it may generate more electricity than the home uses during daylight hours.

You may easily participate in the discussion via the Zoom Webinar platform or your telephone. The zoom link and call in information and including meeting materials will be posted on Thursday on the Town website.
