Plans for Safe Celebration in 2020

The bright glow of the holidays is once again coming to the Town of Lyons, with a few important changes for 2020.

Frozen Parade
Let's brighten the night and everyone's spirits as we celebrate this tradition in a safe and beautiful way! This year, the traditional Holiday Parade of Lights is transforming into a safe event, as a stationary, Frozen Parade! The Frozen Parade of Lights will feature illuminated vehicles and trailers along High Street, as decorated by residents and businesses. Spectators
can drive through,
to both enjoy and become part of the parade! The Frozen Parade will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 5  along High Street.

Santa Claus is Coming to Lyons
Santa is coming to town! On December 5, Santa will route through local neighborhoods on his sleigh, spreading good cheer through town. Santa will be accompanied by local talent, Dechen Hawk, who will be performing live music along the route. The musical route will begin at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5.  Look for the sleigh, in your neighborhood!

Santa Virtual Visits

Santa is also doing one-on-one visits from the North Pole!
Sign up for a five- or ten-minute online visit with Santa. Slots are available from 9 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. on December 5 and 12, and are free of cost! But sign up quickly to reserve your spot!

Board of Trustees Meeting

BOT Public Hearing

Thursday, Dec 3rd | 6:30 pm


The Board of Trustees will host a Public Hearing for Consideration Of Final Approval Of The Modified Development Plan For 0 Carter Drive on Thursday, December 3rd beginning at 6:30 pm.


2nd Ave Bridge Replacement

Reminders!


The Town is using FEMA mitigation funds to build a new single-span bridge on 2nd Avenue over the St. Vrain Creek. Construction is anticipated to begin in the next week and continue into summer 2021.

2nd Avenue will be closed near the St. Vrain Creek for approximately six months while the bridge is demolished and replaced. The project and road closures are expected to begin in earnest early next week.

All work is weather-dependent and the schedule is subject to change.

Are streetlights giving you the blues?

Town wide Street Lights

Monday, Dec 21 at 7:00 p.m.


Throughout Lyons, the streetlights illuminate our highways, intersections, street corners, public spaces, alleyways, parks, sidewalks, and so on.

Streetlights provide lighting to increase visibility, promote road safety for both drivers and pedestrians, and to help discourage theft or violence.

The Board of Trustees plans to discuss a policy regarding Residential Streetlight Change Requests at the December 21st BOT Meeting. The public is invited to give their input and feedback.


Free Mobile COVID testing
Free Mobile COVID Testing in Lyons

COVID Testing Sites

200 2nd Ave Lyons | Fridays, 1:30pm - 3pm

Boulder County Public Health, in partnership with Boulder Community Health and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment will provide free COVID testing in Lyons on Fridays, from 1:30 pm - 3 pm.

No appointment is needed, and individuals do not need to have COVID-19 symptoms to be tested. Individuals who are 65 years old or older or are essential workers are encouraged to attend.

Location: Parking lot of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 200 2nd Ave, Lyons
Hours: 1:30 – 3 p.m. every Friday through the end of the year, weather permitting and excluding holidays. 
Requirement: Mask must be worn 
Note: The testing will be closed on Friday, Dec. 25  


Free Testing at the Boulder County Fairgrounds in Longmont
The Boulder County free testing site is now at the Boulder County Fairgrounds in Longmont . Testing is available for anyone who would like to be tested, and individuals do not have to have symptoms to be tested.

Location: Boulder County Fairgrounds, 9595 Nelson Rd, Longmont.
Hours: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., 7 days per week.

Remember to lock cars, shut doors, garages

The Boulder County Sheriff's Department reminds all residents that thieves look for easy targets. Remember to lock the doors of your homes and vehicles. Shut your garage doors and bring in any deliveries left on your porch promptly.
