Author Talk: Pam Houston

Author Talk: Pam Houston

Tuesday, November 17 at 7:00 p.m.

“The language of the wilderness is the most beautiful language we have and it is our job to sing it, until and even after it is gone, no matter how much it hurts.” ? Pam Houston, Deep Creek: Finding Hope in the High Country.

Join the Lyons Regional Library District on November 17 for an evening featuring celebrated Colorado author Pam Houston. In essays as lucid and invigorating as mountain air, Deep Creek delivers Houston’s most profound meditations yet on how “to live simultaneously inside the wonder and the grief… to love the damaged world and do what I can to help it thrive.”

“Houston firmly establishes herself as a key voice from the rural West… her talent remains remarkable and her words extraordinarily affecting and effective.”–Booklist, Starred Review.

2nd Ave Bridge Replacement

The Town will utilize FEMA mitigation funds to build a new single-span bridge on 2nd Avenue over the St. Vrain Creek.

Construction is anticipated to begin in late November/early December and continue into summer 2021.
2nd Avenue will be closed near the St. Vrain Creek for approximately six months while the bridge is demolished and replaced. More information will follow on road closure dates and detour routes.

The contract team led by Zak Dirt Inc. will mobilize equipment and materials to the staging area south of the bridge as early as the week of November 16. Initial work includes installing temporary erosion control measures, placing traffic signs and setting survey control for construction.

All work is weather-dependent and the schedule is subject to change.
Visit www.townoflyons.com/bridge for more information and weekly project updates.

Send a caring Note or Card

Send a card, a child's drawing, or a poster of encouragement

For healthcare workers

As COVID cases increase again statewide, please consider sending a card, a child's sweet drawing, or a poster of encouragement to local healthcare organizations or hospitals. They have all appreciated these signs of support more than they can express as the public healthcare fight against the pandemic increases this fall. If you can, take some time to send them your gratitude!
