High Street Stormwater Improvements Project

The High Street Stormwater Improvement project has kicked off this week! This project entails installing new storm drain along High Street between 5th Ave and 4th Ave and will continue down 4th Avenue from High Street to Main street. Also included will be a new concrete sidewalk being constructed on High Street between 5th Ave and 4th Avenue. Once these items are complete, the roadway will reconstructed on the eastbound lane of High Street and the southbound lane on 4th Ave.

What’s happening this week? 10/12 – 10/17

  • Mobilization of equipment and material is scheduled to start 
  • Traffic control setup 
  • Installation of erosion control items 
  • Asphalt removals on 4th Avenue and a portion of High Street 
  • Pipe crews will start installing storm drain on 4th Avenue

What’s happening in next week? 10/19 – 10/24
Pipe crews will continue installing storm drain on 4th Avenue and proceed down High Street

What’s coming in the next few weeks? 

  • Continuation of storm drain installation 
  • Grading and prepping for new curb and gutter along High Street is scheduled 
  • Placement of new curb and gutter, driveway entrances and sidewalk along High Street

All work described is subject to change based on weather conditions and materials supply.

Traffic Impacts – The eastbound lane of High Street between 5th and 4th and southbound lane of 4th Ave between High Street and Main street will be closed until the end of November. On street parking on the southside of High Street and both sides of 4th Avenue in these areas will not be available during this project. Business accesses will be maintained throughout the project with day to day closures to complete the work as needed. Detours will be signed so that traffic can keep moving around these areas. Pedestrian traffic will be allowed to access the businesses at marked locations. 

Safety concerns – This project will have open trenches while they install the new storm drain, so please avoid getting close to these areas. As with any construction there are safety concerns with equipment and trucks working, please give them space to work and do not impede their work space for your safety. As much as possible, please adhere to the traffic barrels and signs. If you need to access the businesses on the southside of High Street or westside of 4th Ave, use the marked locations to cross thru the work zone and always be aware of your surroundings.
