Fireworks and PetsWhile fireworks are a fun and exciting way for people to celebrate the 4th of July, the loud booms can be terrifying for pets. In fact, more pets are lost on the Fourth of July than any other day of the year. Please consider the following and start TODAY to ensure that your precious animals will be safe over the holiday.

  • Check to make sure that your pets have identification on them with your CURRENT CONTACT information. In the event your pet slips out of his/her collar, a microchip (with your current contact information) could be a lifesaver!
  • If your pet has historically been anxious or if you have reason to expect potentially harmful reactions, consider behavioral therapy as a way to desensitize your pet. Some pets respond well to calming wraps. Some pets may need medication. Consult your veterinarian today to discuss options Make sure your pets are safe and secure. 
  • Keep them INDOORS during planned fireworks events and provide calming background music to distract them.
