Reminder to owners of furry friends
With spring snowstorms in the books and summer drawing close, we want to remind residents about dogs and leash rules. All dogs in Lyons must be on a leash in public areas. This includes: LaVern Johnson Park, Bohn Park, Sandstone Park, Lyons Valley River Park ponds and Black Bear Hole, as well as sidewalks, streets, and rights-of-way.
“We need everyone’s help to ensure that both two- and four-legged park users get the most out of these areas,” noted Boulder County Sheriff Sergeant, Bill Crist. “Please be respectful of each other and follow the rules for on- and off-leash areas.”
Currently, the dog park at Bohn Park is the only off-leash area in the Town of Lyons. This means dogs should be on a leash until they’ve entered the gated area of the off-leash park. Please remember that dog waste removal and disposal is required by law. Individuals can report animal complaints to Boulder County Non-Emergency Dispatch at 303.441.4444.
Lyons Outdoor Games
Due to current Bohn Park Construction, the Lyons Outdoor Games event will be held in the Bohn Bark Off-Leash Dog Park. The dog park is scheduled to be closed intermittently on May 30 for vendor access and setup, and then remain closed from May 31 at 9 a.m. through 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 2.
While the dog park is closed for normal use during that weekend, dogs on a leash are welcome at this year’s Lyons Outdoor Games! Perhaps you have a future Dock Dog champion in your midst...?
