The Town of Lyons has a council-manager form of government, wherein six Trustees and one Mayor are elected by voters, and set policies for operating the Town government. The administrative implementation and management of policies are held responsible by the town administrator, who is appointed by the Board of Trustees.
The mayor may serve up to four two-year terms consecutively, for a total of eight years. Trustee members may serve up to three two-year terms consecutively, for a total of six years.
Unless otherwise posted, all public meetings are being held in person at Lyons Town Hall, 432 Fifth Ave, Lyons, CO.
Start time is 7 p.m. and usually last three hours
Held every 1st and 3rd Monday of each month
Work Sessions are generally held before the regularly scheduled meeting, as needed, from 5 - 6:45 p.m
OPEN PUBLIC COMMENT
The public is welcome to provide comment to the Board of Trustees at their meetings (1st and 3rd Mondays of the month).
Open public comment (for items not on that night’s agenda) starts during audience business which is at the beginning of every meeting.
While you do not have to be a resident of Lyons to speak before the Board, please note that decisions are based on what is in the best interest for the residents of the Town.
Suggestions to help make your input more effective
• Public comment is limited to 4 minutes per person and may be shortened to allow all to speak, if at a particular meeting, the Board anticipates extensive public comment.
• Written materials are welcome to be submitted ahead of time, to Town Staff, and will be published in the meeting packet.
• If you provide written materials, please refrain from simply reading that same material to the Board—the Trustees will have already seen it in their packet. Instead, focus on key points and requests you may have for action or information, if applicable.
