Nick Angelo, Mayor.
Political responsibilities, committees, etc.
Mayor and Liaison to Senior citizens of Lyons.
Qualifications for office
Mayor from 1998 to 2000 and Trustee from 1995 to 1998.
I was instrumental in the purchase of the Olson property in 1997, now an extension of Bohn Park, and the latest County purchase of the remaining Olson property. It will enable the Town to participate in the creation of the Northern Heil Ranch Open Space Trailhead that will bring many visitors to Lyons.
My experience in the past has taught me how important communication is, both with my fellow Board members and the citizens of Lyons. I believe very strongly in allowing all citizens to brings their thoughts before the Town Board, whether they be positive or negative, and allow any citizen the time they need for full expression of those thoughts. Meetings may be longer, but that's just the way it is under my leadership. I expect and asks for each Board Member's view on every issue and feel very strongly that all Board members are equal and that I just run the meetings and sign the checks and have a few other duties that are the Mayor's responsibility.
Personal background
I am married to Candace Shepard and have four children.
My main interests include the Senior citizens of Lyons, and I am their liaison. I am also very interested in the children of Lyons and have worked toward establishing as many amenities as is possible in our small town for them.

Manny Vasquez, Mayor Pro Tem
Political responsibilities, committees, etc.
This is my first term as Trustee, being newly elected in
2004. Being the youngest ever elected
to the board, I see my political responsibility as that of being the voice for
the younger generation. I am eager to
learn the ropes of politics, and have been appointed by Mayor Kyer as liaison
of the Lyons Chamber of Commerce.
Qualifications for office
Being a fourth generation native of Lyons and a
local business owner I feel I am in touch with the needs of the community and I
can identify with the issues at hand. I
am a strong supporter of community events such as hosting the Good Old Days
Softball Tournament and hosting charity events for the Lyons Golden Gang. I firmly believe that each person has a
personal obligation to get involved and be active within the community and I
was honored that the people of Lyons elected me to represent them!
Personal background
I was born and raised in Lyons, and have spent most of my
life learning and working alongside my father, Raul Vasquez. I believe he has taught me the value of a
hard day's work and the importance of family. I am the oldest child with a sister and brother right behind! My mom was the cornerstone of the family and
has always been my biggest fan.
I am busy raising a family here in Lyons, trying to
instill in them all that I have learned. Some of my other passions include hunting, panning for gold, fishing and
I am an avid sports fan. I find that
there are so many things that I have been blessed with in this life that keep
me extremely busy and fulfilled. |

My policitical responsiblity is to lead and represent the citizens of Lyons in such a way as it promotes the health, safety and welfare of all
the people of our Town. When elected, the Mayor asked, and I said I would,
also accept two related positions which are liaison to the Pathways
Commission and Finance Trustee.
As the Board of Trustees liaison to and member of the Lyons
Pathway Commission, I work to advance the safe non-motorized passage of the
people of our Town and visitors from and to their homes, schools, the
downtown, parks and open space, and public transportation. Also in this capacity,
I am working to create a path system for non-motorized recreation which
would connect the Town of Lyons to a regional trail systems linking us to Longmont, the Boulder County Reservoir, the Hall and Heil Ranches and Larimer County.
As the Finance Trustee, I read the financial statements prepared by
our Town employees and our outside certified public accountants. In this function, I am simply one more check to help make sure Town funds are properly collected, spent, and recordedMy political responsibility is

Qualifications for office
The qualification I am most proud of is the

position an Environmental Science degree from Stockton State College in New Jersey and post graduate work in Mineral Land
Management at the University of Colorado, Denver.
I have been employed as a Financial Advisor with
Merrill Lynch since 1985. Currently, I am a Vice President with Merrill Lynch
and I have passed training and tests to earn designations as a Certified
Financial Manager (CFM) and as a Personal Investment Manager (financial
portfolio manager).
The above education, training and positions help me fullfill my

Brian Donnell, Trustee
Political responsibilities, committees, etc.
Elected to Trustee in 2004 and 2006, Liaison to the Lyons Chamber of Commerce, IT Advisory Committee, and Land Use Advisory Committee. Current activites involve providing Town Hall IT support along with sound and recording system support. I am also working on some significant enhancements to the TownOfLyons web site in addition to the outsourcing of the regular updates to ensure information gets updated in a more timely manner.
Besides my Town of Lyons responsibilities, I am a member of the Lyons Middle/High School Accountability Committee. I am also a member of the CEMEX Community Advisory Panel for which I help present community concerns and potential resolutions to the CEMEX Lyons Plant management.
Qualifications for office
First and foremost, my family and I have lived in Lyons for eight years now so we know the community well. Professionally speaking, I have a B.S. ChE, M.S. NE and have worked for over two decades in software development, management, and consulting. I am also active with the Chamber of Commerce as a small business owner/operator as I continue to grow my audio and video recording studio. In addition to being involved with many professional and extracurricular organizations, I believe my previous term in office has given me excellent experience in working with the BOT, Town Hall Staff, and the many other key governmental and non-governmental organizations in our area to serve the needs of Lyons residents as honestly and fairly as possible--with "nothing up my sleeve". This has been my primary motivator and I will continue to abide by the high standards of integrity I've set for myself in working for you.
One of my accomplishments from my past term has been to put the Town website online. This has been a huge step forward for the Town and, along with the digital audio recordings we're now doing at Town Hall, allows us to make meetings available to the public in a way that was not previously possible. I will continue to apply my expertise and studio resources to help launch this new "transparency" service for the Town of Lyons by ensuring these meetings are made available online and updated regularly.
Personal background
I was born and raised in a small town in Missouri. My father, who passed away just last year at 93, was a well respected physician who served in WW II by running one of the main hospitals in London (he escorted the Queen as well as Clark Gable on their tours of "his" hospital) as well as being an early implementor of radiological technology. He helped found the local county hospital where I was born. He is not only my role model but my idol and I measure my professional actions by his business ethics regularly. Similarly, my mother, now 87 and actively living in St. Louis, has always been active in community service from being a regional Red Cross blood drive organizer to serving on the local school board. These reflect the source of my values. A small town upbringing. Committment to community service. These are simply "in my nature" and part of what I want to do for others in my community.
I am blessed with a wonderful family. My wife of 20 years, Amy, is an incredible, independent woman who "calls it as she sees it"--and all jokes aside, she's usually right. That helps keep me honest and humble. And seeing our two children grow and mature here in Lyons is another joy for me. Of course, anyone who knows us knows of our love for animals. They, like young children and musicians (perhaps the same? <grin>), shake us from our superficial existence and help us live life while it marches onward.

I currently serve as a liaison for the Town Board to the Lyons Fire Protection District. I also serve as the Public Works liaison for the Town Board.
Qualifications for office
I was a Lyons Fire Protection District Board Member for one term and a term prior in the mid-90’s. I served as a member of the fire department for over 12 years. I worked for Boulder County in their Road Maintenance division for a number of years and understand how important it is to maintain and improve basic needs of Lyons residents in regard to utilities and infrastructure of the town.
Personal background
The town of Lyons is my home and I have lived here all my life. I believe Pride in our township is a core necessity of economic survival and I encourage all residents to get involved in their appropriate niche.

Kris Hicar, Trustee
Political responsibilities, committees, etc.
Currently Liaison to Lyons Library Board, and the St. Vrain Valley School District. Elected to Trustee position in 2002, 2004, and 2006.
Qualifications for office
This will be my third term
on the Town Board. I've lived in Lyons for 6 years and am married with children. I have been an active volunteer
in the schools and within the community.
Personal background
While teaching preschool in 2002, friends
suggested I run for town board. After a good laugh, I collected my
petition-got the signatures and got my name on the ballot. To everyone's
surprise, especially my own, I ended up on the town board. I enjoyed my
time there so much, I ran again in 2004, and was re-elected. I then decided to go for the hat trick, I ran
again in 2006 and to my pleasant surprise, I was elected for my last term.
I am addicted to volunteering, and find myself
saying yes more often then I say no. Thanks to this habit, I have
discovered an entire world of volunteer work I was not aware of before running
for the board. Besides volunteering at my children's schools, I raise my
hand for assorted committees and chances to make a different in Lyons. Lastly, I
have made it my personal goal to get rid of knapweed in our town. I have
tried to get as many weevils and beetles as possible-to get busy munching at
the knapweed. This is not a quick fix, but a long term commitment. I am excited to see what 2-3 years down the
road holds for our knapweed problem. I
like to think we’ll have seen some serious progress! Unfortunately, as soon as
we get this pest-of-a-weed under control, there will be others that the town
will have to start looking at.
Before children, I was a first/second grade
teacher, and have a background in education. My main job right now
is “Mom”. I am married with two children and two dogs. My life, of course, is busy; but knowing
that I am contributing to my town, the community my children are growing up in
makes my “elected” volunteer position worth it.
