 Public Meetings

2008 budget meetings for the Town of Lyons are as follows:

  • November 26, 2007 at 7 p.m. Monday Special meeting - discussion of Utility Funds.
  • December 3, 2007 at 7 p.m. Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees, discussion and review of final draft, incorporating any necessary changes.

Additional special meetings may be called if more discussion is needed.

Public Hearing/Monday Special Meeting

  • December 10, 2007 at 7 p.m. Special meeting/public hearing of the Board of Trustees to adopt the budget and certify the mill levy.

Board of Trustees Regular Meetings are the first and third Monday of every month:

  • December 3, 2007 at 7 pm
  • December 17, 2007 at 7 pm

Planning Community & Development Commission

Meets on the second and fourth Monday of every month. They will have an official meeting if they have business to attend to if not they meet for a workshop to work on the updating the zoning codes.

Town Hall Property Development Proposal Meetings

Dave Wickum and Pete Dordick of Lyons Development LLC will be holding public meetings at the Town Hall on November 1 from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm, November 8 from 5 pm to 7 pm, November 14 from 10:30 pm to 1:30 pm and November 15 from 5 pm to 7 pm.

 Upcoming Events

Parade of Lights Pie Contest November 18, 2007 will be held at the Stone Cup at 5th Ave and High Street. Public tasting begins at 12:30 pm. There are three categories Pumpkin, apple and pecan. All pies will be judged and a winner will be chosen by 3 pm. Everyone will have the opportunity to sample the assorted treats. Pies will be for sale and proceeds will benefit the Parade of Lights. If you are interested in entering the contest and participating in the benefit sale, please bring two identical pies in disposable pie tins to the Stone Cup between 6-10 am on November 18th. If you need more information please call the Stone Cup at 303-823-2345. Your participation will ensure a successful parade.

Lyons Parks and Recreation to Host First Old Time Community Dance of the Year, Saturday, November 24, 2007.. The Town of Lyons Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Events is proud to announce that on Saturday, November 24, 2007 it will be hosting a Thanksgiving Old Time Community Dance. The dance will be held at the Oddfellows Hall (corner 4th Ave and Main Street just North of Main) from 7-10 pm on Saturday, November 24, 2007. Music that will keep you on your toes will be provided by you’re the Full Moon Serenaders along with caller Fred Park. No partner is needed all dances are taught. Don’t forget to bring a desert treat to share with your neighbors and friends. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for children, or bring the entire family for $12. 33rd Annual Lyons Christmas Bazaar, December 1, 2007. The 33rd Annual Lyons Christmas Bazaar will be held from 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday (Dec 1) and Sunday (Dec 2) from 11 am to 4 pm at the Lyons Elementary School Gym. The event is sure to provide hours of great holiday shopping with many unique items to browse. The Bazaar is sponsored by the Lyons Depot Library, for more information please contact Merlyn Williams, Librarian at 303-823-5165

Parade of Lights and Fireworks, December 1, 2007. The Parks Department will host the annual Parade of Lights and Fireworks. The parade will begin at 6:30 pm. The theme this year is "Christmas in the Rockies" Music and entertainment following the parade at Sandstone Park will begin at 7:15 pm on the Raul Vasquez Community Stage. Among those performing will be the Lyons High School Choir and the Irish Pipe Band. Approximately at 7:40 pm the fireworks display will begin. After the fireworks the parade awards will be given out at Sandstone Park on the Raul Vasquez Community Stage.
