Boulder County Owls

Today! May 4 at 7 p.m. | Lyons Farmette

A talk with Boulder County’s owls will be given this Friday 5/4 at 7PM, at the Lyons Farmette in Lyons (4121 Ute Hwy, Lyons, CO 80540) . Owls have been regarded with fascination and awe throughout recorded history and across many cultures. Over half of the owl species recorded in the U.S. have been seen in Boulder County, and most of those owls nest here! This slide program and talk will explore these fascinating and diverse creatures, and what makes them expert hunters.

The program is part of the Town of Lyons Ecology Advisory Board’s ongoing public outreach program and is working in alignment with National Geographic’s year of the birds recognition.

The Town is excited to announce McConnell Bridge's grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on Tuesday, May 8! Hungry Bears are Waking Up

The Lyons Ecology Advisory Board wants to remind everyone to be bear-aware this May. Hungry bears are waking up, and hopefully with the mild winter we had, there will be plenty of food for them in the mountains. However, we can do our part to make sure that we don’t draw bears into town.
1. Secure your trash cans. For sources on bear resistant containers see this link: boulderbearcoalition.org/bears-and-trash.
2. Bring your bird and hummingbird feeders in at night.
3. Don’t leave unharvested fruit on your trees around your property.

For more information please see: boulderbearcoalition.org and cpw.state.co.us/Documents/Education/LivingWithWildlife/LivingWithBears.pdf.
