Burning Can at Lyons Outdoor Games

The unofficial kick-off to summer is back!

On June 1, 2019, Burning Can Fest at the Lyons Outdoor Games returns to Bohn Park. Ticket holders can watch world-class athletes competing in both open and professional competitions, such as the Grip and Rip BMX Dirt Jump competitions.

This year’s event also features several participant sport competitions, such as the Trail Run/Beer Relay and the RAD Track Bike Obstacle Race. The festival’s quirky side shines through with features like “Dock Dogs” dog jumping contests, yoga sessions, and a cornhole tournament. Of course, it wouldn't be a partnership with Oskar Blues without Burning Can - a beer festival within the Lyons Outdoor Games, featuring more than 70 craft breweries.

The music and dance vibes will be in full effect with three musical performances: Moon Taxi, Wildermiss, and the Red Petals!

Due to very low runoff conditions, the Adam Barron Memorial Creek Race, the kayaking freestyle competitions, and the Riverrat Race events have been cancelled.

FREE general admission!

Burning Can at Lyons Outdoor Games is just a few days away, and we need YOUR help! About 40 volunteer slots are still available, such as Main Gate ticketing and check-in, the RAD Track, Beer Fest VIP, and many more. Most slots are three hours, allowing flexibility and ample time for volunteers to enjoy the day!

Did we mention all volunteers will receive free general admission, a meal ticket, and a Lyons Outdoor Games t-shirt?

As a volunteer-driven event, this beloved event couldn't happen without the team of volunteers.

Local Logistics

Information for Residents

Parking
Designated parking areas for Burning Can at Lyons Outdoor Games are the Bohn Park (Phase I) parking lot, wastewater treatment plant, and Lyons Middle/Senior High School. While event staff will make their best effort toward containing event parking to these areas, street parking in nearby neighborhoods is likely to occur.

In future years, the Town hopes to alleviate some residential traffic congestion with the completion of Bohn Park Phase II, as the area will allow for more special event parking space. In the meantime, we thank Lyons residents - and a special thanks to Lyons Valley Park area residents - for your understanding and patience during this eventful weekend.

The Trail Run/Beer Relay
The Trail Run/Beer Relay course routes along the northeast stretch of McConnell Drive from the bridge, and merges onto open space trails around the school, off Carter Drive. The relay starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 1. Visit thebeerrelay.com/course for more information.
